Carroll County Ambulance
Carroll County Ambulance Service is a county-based
EMS service in rural Iowa. Responding to over 2,600 calls every
year and covering over 600 sq miles. They staff a Service
Director, a secretary/ambulance coder/biller, 11 full time
paramedics, and 19 part-time EMS providers.
In June of 2021, they lost their beloved Service Director,
Darrell Baker to lung cancer. With big shoes to fill, the
organization appointed Paramedic/RN Jamie Wuebker as the new EMS
Service Director. Since this appointment, Carroll County
Ambulance service has improved their delivery of ambulance
service with upgrading its equipment and securing new funding
through multiple grants and community backing. They now have 3
Zoll V Vents, Glidescope Go video laryngoscopes, Sapphire IV
Pumps, CO monitors, as well as additional LUCAS devices, EZ-IOs,
Stryker Stairchairs, and Lifepak 15 monitors.
Carroll County Ambulance not only looks to improve their own
operations, but also improving the services provided by other
agencies within their community. CCAS stocks iGel airways for
the entire county, including the BLS teams in their
non-transporting communities.
Not only has CCAS improved operations, they also stepped up
their continuing education offerings to EMS providers in their
community by becoming an authorized NAEMT Training Center! They
can now host educational opportunities that fit any level of EMS
provider as well as the array of NAEMT course offerings! They
have partnered with Western Iowa Tech Community College to
provide CAPCE accredited education hours for all training and
education opportunities offered by CCAS!
CCAS has formed great relationships with their local
healthcare organizations St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital and
Manning Regional Healthcare Center, to ensure efficient and
effective pre-hospital care is being provided to its community
and visitors and making sure CCAS EMS providers are proficient
at intubation by providing live intubation training
opportunities in the operating room.
The leaps and bounds made by CCAS over the last year
certainly should not go unrecognized. Their progressive and
proactive approach towards EMS has been complimented throughout
Iowa. They are true innovators for EMS in our great State.
I am honored to present this years, Career EMS Service
Provider of the Year award to, Carroll County Ambulance Service!
